Seminar

Lise Byskov Herslund will present insights from research projects focused on local collective action in both urban climate change adaptation and rural development. The presentation will explore key questions such as:

  • How can we best engage with local communities?
  • Who are considered local communities?
  • What roles can they play in adaptation and development?
  • How can we assess their capacity?
  • Should they be expected to take on such responsibilities?
  • What kinds of support do they need or receive—and how?

The presentation will be followed by a discussion with the Öresund Comparative Borderland Research Group, and questions from participants. The seminar is held on Zoom and open to the public.

Lise Byskov Herslund

Lise Byskov Herslund is an Associate Professor at the Department of Geosciences at the University of Copenhagen. Her research includes projects in rural areas where local communities have taken on new responsibilities, such as saving and managing local shops. Herslund has also conducted extensive work in African cities, examining how communities in resource-constrained environments adapt to climate change and the increasing importance of local engagement in these efforts.
