Maria Simonsen

Maria Simonsen is a Research Associate Professor at the Department of Politics and Society at Aalborg university. Simonsen earned her PhD in Book History at Lund University 2016, with the dissertation Den Skandinaviske Encyklopædi. Udgivelse og udformning af Nordisk familjebok & Salmonsens Konversationsleksikon. The book was published in the Centre for Oresund Region Studies book series. Simonsen’s research concerns book history, history of knowledge and of universities, and Simonsen communicates research in different media.

Together with Centre for Oresund Regions Studies, Maria Simonsen organized the workshop "Akademiskt arbete i Danmark och Sverige" (the link opens to a page in Swedish) in June 2022. The workshop was initiated after an extensive debate in both Sweden and Denmark on the conditions of research. In the Oresund region, where Swedish and Danish conditions meet, research policy issues can contrast markedly. The goals of the workshop were for the participants to learn from each other and develop strategies that can further academic work in Denmark and Sweden.

You can read more about Simonsen's research projects and publications on Simonsen's page in the Aalborg university research portal.
